CNC-worthy May 7, 2010 Pixel8tryx (Old Line State, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this to add to a laptop to drive a CNC controller using Mach3. You're not supposed to use a laptop, and add-on parallel ports are questionable too. But so far I have my micro mill under computer control using the StarTech card. It does really appear to be the closest thing to a "real" parallel port. So far it fools Mach3, which does some nitty-gritty low level realtime stuff.

I bought this card in order to be able to plug in a hardware dongle (key) on a laptop. It has been working great, no issues.

Absolutely clean functionality May 10, 2010 R. Terry (Santa Clara, CA United States) It's been over a year now and never a hiccup. I both print and scan on an HP Office Jet Pro 1175Cse. I plug and unplug the device for each job. My computer is an IBM/lenovo ThinkPad T60. It simply works!
