5 out of 5 stars Plug and Play Bliss   April 18, 2010

It just works, you don't need no stinking manual. It is literally plug-n-play, plug it in and start playing, be it online games or HD movies.

Now that everyone in my neighborhood has a wireless network, the congestion produces a lot of interference and poor throughput. The ideal solution would be to go to a dual band wireless-N router using the 5GHz band. But of course that costs money; new router, new adapters for all devices. This device isn't cheap but it is more cost effective compared to the ideal wireless router solution. I am getting well over 100Mb/s of throughput on mine. The greatest benefit to these devices is their simplicity, it just works.

Some of the unique benefits of this device is its power saving feature. It automatically goes into standby mode when not in use. It is also great to be able to see your connection quality at a glance using the color coded LEDs.

The only real negative about this product is the price. Everything else about it makes it superior to wireless when making a point to point connection. No more interference, a consistent quality high speed connection, zero effort setup and maintenance, this is what networking should be.

5 out of 5 stars Works like a charm   May 9, 2010

I bought these to replace a Belkin Gigabit Powerline Ethernet Adapter kit and I couldn't be happier. In addition to working well, you can also install a Netgear utility on your computer to view the adapters' performance, configure QOS, etc. (i.e. greater control over the device than the competing Belkin model). I highly recommend these Netgear adapters - they do a GREAT job expanding your existing wired network without loss of speed. I am using mine to connect my Home Theater PC and Tivo to the network, and I often pull HD video content from my desktop PC and the Internet. Everything works well without buffering.

5 out of 5 stars So EASY, even a caveman could install a home network!!!   August 24, 2010

Installation:

Plug one ethernet cable into a network modem or router, plug the other end into a Powerline AV 200 adapter that's plugged into an electrical outlet. DON'T plug the adapter into a surge protector or power strip outlet; signal will be degraded or it won't work at all.

Plug another Powerline adapter into another outlet (in the same building) wherever you choose. Connect via ethernet cable to your computer, Xbox360, PS3, Blu-Ray player, TiVo, Slingbox, DVR, or broadband capable TV, etc. VoilĂ , home network connection and the Internet.

No software installation, no setups, and no configurations necessary. A Resource CD is included if you want to bother with it.

Three lights: Power, Powerline (indicates network connectivity and signal strength), and Ethernet (broadband traffic). Green lights mean optimal conditions for all three.

There's even a security feature for folks in dorm rooms or apartments with shared wiring. Push the security button on one adapter after lights are green and then press the security button on the other adapter within two minutes. Press the factory reset button to return to default setting.

Compared to my old 2.4Ghz wireless router where I have to change channels on a regular basis (too many 2.4Ghz wireless phones and routers everywhere), this Powerline connection is far more stable and secure.

It doesn't get any easier than that. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Exceeded My Expectations   July 23, 2010

Not much to say, other than this was a much better solution than running 50' of Ethernet cable to my HDTV. Set up took all of 5 minutes and the adapters work as advertised. I'm happy.
